A few things about this wedding…
- Kevin is a huge Bo Jackson fan and that fact was not lost on his groomsmen who acquired an autograph from the two-sport star after contributing to his charity. That was just the tip of the iceberg. Kevin also received baseball and football jerseys with the Jackson name on them including a Tampa Bay Buccaneer Jackson jersey, which has to be pretty unique in the scheme of things. Jackson was drafted by Tampa Bay first overall, but opted to play baseball instead. As such, the Bo Jackson Buccaneer jersey is a rare sight and a sore one for fans in Tampa Bay.
- Lutsen Resort is one of my favorite destinations on the north shore. The red bridge, the beach, the lake. How can you go wrong with that? I realize I say this about nearly every venue on the big lake, but Lutsen is among the oldest and most popular resorts on the north shore and that’s for a good reason. And the weather delivered for Sara and Kevin. It was a near perfect day on the north shore, which is ironic because we had to reschedule their engagement photos a few times because of terrible weather in Duluth.
- The band that played at the reception was a mish mash of different musicians. Kevin was having difficulty finding a band to play at Lutsen when he overheard a musician playing at a bar in Minneapolis. He went up, talked to the guy about his music and then told him the problem he was having finding a band. They talked, worked out a deal and a few months later, this group of musicians who hardly played at all together came together at Lutsen and destroyed the place–metaphorically speaking. They were good, really good! It’s odd how little things like that and a big leap of faith work out in the end.
Finally, big thanks to Clint Austin who joined me in covering this wedding.
Congrats Sara and Kevin!!
